November 18, 2006:
Dr. Charles "Snuffy" Myers, at the Chicago Prostate Cancer Symposium, 9 September 2006 (on DVD)
"Exciting New Advances in Treatments and Detection"
At this symposium Dr. Myers, an oncologist, talked about treating
patients with advanced (metastatic) prostate cancer. He discussed the
importance of diet; he said that he starts with triple hormonal
blockade (Lupron, triple Casodex, Proscar) and that he continues it
until the PSA fails to drop further; he does not wait for PSA to rise,
but switches to another regime immediately when the PSA stops
decreasing. He mentions a medication to boost the immune system and
says that there are available a wide variety of cancer fighting drugs;
he uses them as he feels appropriate for the individual patient. A very
interesting presentation; we have it on DVD.
